Ford F-150 Comparison

Ford F-150 vs. the Competition: Which Full-Size Truck Fits You Best?

The Ford F-150 is perennially the best-selling truck in America because drivers love its class-leading capabilities and comfortable, tech-rich cab. Available in nine trim levels, the 2026 F-150 can be tailored to suit your needs for work, play, or your daily commute. Other full-size pickups like the Chevy Silverado 1500, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra are also capable and well-equipped, but they aren't as well-rounded as the F-150. At Saybrook Ford, we're pleased to provide the following comparisons to aid in your decision.

Engines and Performance

The Ford F-150 offers six powertrain options to choose from, allowing you to get one with the muscle or efficiency you crave. These engines include:

  • Turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 (325 horsepower, 400 pound-feet of torque)
  • 5.0-liter V8 (400 horsepower, 410 pound-feet of torque)
  • Turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 (400 horsepower, 500 pound-feet of torque)
  • Turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 (450 horsepower, 510 pound-feet of torque)
  • Supercharged 5.2-liter V8 (720 horsepower, 640 pound-feet of torque)
  • PowerBoost® Hybrid engine (combined 430 horsepower, 570 pound-feet of torque)

The Chevy Silverado 1500 provides a choice of four engines, with a maximum of 420 available horsepower. Of the Ram 1500's four available engine offerings, its highest output is 540 horsepower. The Toyota Tundra only gives you two engines to choose from, with a maximum of 437 horsepower.

Towing and Hauling Capacities

For many truck buyers, towing and hauling capability is the chief reason to own a pickup. The Ford F-150 continually leads the full-size truck segment for towing and payload capacities. The 2026 F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds when properly equipped. It can also carry a payload of up to 2,440 pounds with the right configuration.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 comes closest to the F-150's tow rating, managing 13,300 pounds when properly equipped. The Silverado 1500 also comes in second place for hauling, achieving a 2,380-pound towing capacity with the correct configuration. The Ram 1500 can only manage 11,610 pounds of towing, while the Toyota Tundra maxes out at 12,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Off-Road Capability

When you want to go off the beaten path, the 2026 Ford F-150 can get you there easily. Three off-road-oriented trim levels are available, including the Tremor, Raptor and Raptor R. The Raptor R is the king of the pack, with 37-inch all-terrain tires, adaptive Fox shock absorbers, and the mighty supercharged 720-horsepower V8 engine.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 also offers three off-road-focused trims, but its most muscular engine only makes 420 horsepower. The Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra also have off-road-optimized trims in their lineups, but none of them have the power and capabilities of the F-150 Raptor R.

Technology

The 2026 Ford F-150 comes standard with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Its available Pro Power Onboard is an onboard generator that can be used to power up outdoor camping lights, a plasma cutter, an angle grinder, a TiG welder, or an air compressor for when you need a mobile power source.

The Chevy Silverado's standard infotainment setup only includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, although a 13.4-inch display is available on higher trims. The Ram 1500's base touchscreen is just 8.4 inches long, with a 14.5-inch option on uppermost models. The Toyota Tundra's entry-level touchscreen is only 8 inches long, though you can upgrade to a 14-inch screen.
